Animal & Pet Portraits

Watercolor Animal and Pet Portraits

These works are part of a new series of watercolor animal and pet portraits.  Animals are such a huge part of my personal and almost everyone’s life. I wanted to try something a little different with this series and work on Yupo® synthetic paper. I am hooked! The suspension and movement of transparent watercolor on Yupo® paper provide great depth, color and rich texture.

Being an avid supporter of animal foundations, locally operated shelters and rescues started the imagination spark for this series. I had always thought about painting pet portraits, but never took the first step. Once again, I received a nudge from a friend and started with my own canine family portraits.

I am very thankful and blessed to have my dogs. They love unconditionally, sleep under my art table while I work and seem to get quite excited when I show each one my progress on their personal representation. Animals, like a person, have their own unique personality and qualities. I hope to reflect their individuality in each portrait.
